This private half-day experience takes you beyond the usual tourist route to discover how the city developed, how local people live and how dramatically Riga changes from one neighbourhood to the next. After pickup from your hotel or another location in Riga, we begin with an introduction to the historic centre and some of the city’s best-known landmarks. From there, the journey continues through Riga Central Market, traditional wooden neighbourhoods, riverside allotment gardens and residential areas where private homes stand surprisingly close to large Soviet-era apartment blocks. You will also experience Riga’s greener side around Ķīšezers and Mežaparks before travelling towards Mangaļsala, where the River Daugava meets the Baltic Sea. Depending on the weather and your interests, there will be time for short walks, photographs and a visit to the coastal pier or historic fortification remains. This is not a rigid sightseeing programme. Your local driver-host will adapt the route to the weather, traffic and your interests, allowing you to spend more time at the places you enjoy most.
